As luck would have it a friend of mine sent me a sponsor form and as I was about to donate to the H4H I suddenly thought I wanted to be in the Rally. Loads of emails and pleadings later, finally the organisers allowed me in.

I was and am still soooo excited.!!!

I spoke to Nick and he agreed to be the co-driver, he brings a wealth of experience.

Both my sons were up for a challenge and are flying in from the States and Australia to take part!

Yes we are all MAD!! before you ask.

We have sourced the Mercedes G Wagen (Bless you Richard!)

We now need sponsors and donations so don't be shy!!!

We will be writing a blog on route and posting pictures.

Team Cobra has come together from various parts of the globe to be a part of the Help 4 Heroes 4 x 4 European Rally 2010. The team is dedicated to raising their target goal of 10,000 pounds for the charity and with the appreciative support of the friends, family and sponsors will hope to be an imperative team amongst it’s peers for the summer of 2010.

John (JJ) Marshall-Redding (Driver)

John is the founder of Team Cobra and the inspiration behind our teams participation in this Help 4 Heroes event. John’s responsibility is to drive the Mercedes G Wagen in the allotted time needed and to be in charge of the teams overall safety and well-being. John's role as Team Leader is to showcase the vehicle in all forthcoming events and relay the teams efforts to all media and local publications. John is an NHS registered Shiatsu/Reiki Master, an experienced practitioner / therapist of Tai-Chi and an international bodyguard with a black belt in Aikido. John is a true advocate for the men and women of the armed forces and is truly honoured to be a part of this most memorable experience. John is 55 and currently lives in Birchington-on-Sea with his wife Janet and dog Blossom.

Nicholas Greene (Co-Driver)

Nicholas has been a good friend of John & Janet for over 11 years; as co-driver his job will be to study the route to assist with the minute to minute driving and upcoming obstacles. Having had plenty of 'off road experience' on raids and treks throughout France, where he now lives he will also take over or offer assistance when the terrain gets tough. Having already owned a Mercedes G-wagen for 9 years he knows the vehicle and how it behaves but also has experience if anything should go wrong mechanically. Nicholas has a Masters degree in Criminal Psychology so if he cannot help practically he will be able to keep everyone calm or work out what the opposing teams are thinking and outwit them:-) Nicholas is 45 and has lived in the Limousin area of France for 5 years with his wife Trudy and 3 dogs, Titania Labrador, Ariel cocker spaniel and mad Oberon the springer spaniel, not forgetting Othello the black cat.

Rob Marshall (Tech Support)

Rob’s involvement in the team is to maintain the teams’ website and to keep friends, family and sponsors up to date with the teams progress. Rob will be writing the daily travel blog for Team Cobra and resolve any technical issues that may arise. Rob is 27 years old, a sincere supporter for the Sea Shepherd whale warriors and currently lives in Sydney, Australia as a Commercial Paralegal for the Legal Tech Support Division with his American Wife Clarissa.

Maurice Hu (Logistics)

Mauricey’s contribution to the team is to make sure the team has the right gear for the task at hand, from the crucial vehicle components to the appropriate camping equipment. Maurice's role is to provide information on route maps, times, distance and any necessary data from the start of the gruelling 10 day expedition to the finish. Maurice is 26 yrs of age, born and raised in Texas. He have a Biology degree from the University of Texas, and was working as a pharmaceutical representative most recently. He has been to 9 different countries spanning from South america, Europe and Asia, He is a usefull asset to Team Cobra.
